Kristina loves to cook and requested a “tomato girl summer” wedding theme. She wanted herbs and edible flowers in both her bouquet and the design. We used color while also including ample greenery, peaches, and some pastels.
The greenery was mostly composed of tomato and tomatillo plant greenery from our fellow farm partner, Iola Valley Farm. Herbs we used included rosemary, basil, and nasturtium.
A tomato girl summer wedding.
Fun fact: zinnias & dahlias are both edible! So the yarrow, snapdragons, zinnias, dahlias, and herbs in Kristina’s bouquet were all edible. A nod to her love of cooking.
Carnation strings led wedding guests to the ceremony space at the Woods Walk. Theres a short trail through the aspens leading to the ceremony site. We had carnation strings every ten feet or so hanging over the trail.
Reception
Kristina’s father was also a florist! She said he had the best time telling all the guests the Latin names of the flowers used in the design.
We also did food styling in the reception space! Using tomatillos, tomatoes, kale, and nasturtiums, we created a floral and vegetable tablescape on the tall bar table in the Public House.
And we can’t forget the flower crowns for both the moose and the mountain goat in the Public House dining area!
